A few days ago our squad had a “culture day.” We spent the entire day traveling around Macedonia. We stopped in three different spots, Struga, Ohrid, and a monastery. We were walking around Ohrid and it was so life bringing, later I learned that it’s called the city of light. When I tell you that in that moment I had so much joy in my heart, I mean it.

At training camp, the Lord had done so many amazing things, and He reminded me about my relationship with the sun. For those of you who don’t know, I LOVE the sun. I spend hours just sitting in the sun. I fall asleep every time because I just feel so at peace and so so rested. The second I am in the sun’s presence, I feel like myself again. I feel so refreshed and I feel alive.

On one of our first night’s here, I had opened my Bible and found a letter from my sister. She said I remind everyone of the sun/son wherever I step. That is when it all hit me. I want to reflect the light everywhere I go, and the sun represents my relationship with the Lord. I strive to be in His presence. I feel at peace and rested, as well as refreshed and alive. Because that’s the thing, He is so life bringing. He warms my soul, and we are literally created to be in His presence.

My goal now is to be a window. To have His light shine in and through me. To light up the rooms I am in. To uncover the darkness. To bring warmth, peace, rest, and refreshment. To bring life wherever I step. To be glass, so that everyone can see His character through me. I strive to be a window so that others can experience Jesus in the way that I have. I strive to be a window so that others can feel the sun on their face and be filled with everlasting, fulfilling life.

I spent my day in the city of light. What a blessing to be in a country where Paul spread the light that He was blinded by. If I said I didn’t go to three tattoo shops to see if I could get a sun tattoo I would be lying. A constant reminder of the Lord working in my life, and spending years to teach me a lesson that would make eternal impact. I am in awe of how our Creator works in my life and in the lives of others.
