We are called to go and make disciples of all nations. I believe our generation has forgotten about the discipling part, and focused on salvation alone. Yes, that is the most important decision a human being can make, but that is not what Jesus came to do. He built relationships, He was intentional about having conversations with people, He cared for others, and then He took the time to walk them through the scriptures and explain what God’s Word meant. That is the model He created for us. That is what we are called to do. 

I have been noticing the severe lack of discipleship in our society, and all of its effects. I see Christians who have been spiritual babies for decades. I see “Christians” who don’t fully live their lives for Christ because they don’t know how. I see people turn away the gospel because they were dropped as soon as they surrendered their life to Christ. I see people with rebellious spirits because they don’t understand the nature of God’s Word and His commands. 

Yes we live in a broken world, and yes we have a fallen nature, but these things could be prevented if we did our part. As I have been trying to figure out why God wants me on the trip, discipleship seems to echo. In every circumstance, we are to put others before ourselves. In every circumstance, we are to lay our life on the line for the sake of the gospel. That is what we were created to do, so why do we have such a problem stepping out of our comfort zone for 2 seconds. 

The reality of it is, nothing else matters. Nothing else matters in this world except for making disciples and sharing the love of Christ. Nothing. It is so clear to me that the devil is at work because why do we make 800 excuses before sharing the gospel. Why do we spend more hours in a day on our phones than in the Word. Why do we worry about every little detail when our Creator says He’s got us. This is a wake up call. For me, and for you. The devil has no power over us. He has no power over my life and Jesus does. I’m not letting him get in the way of the very reason I was created. I am no longer letting him plant lies in my head. I am no longer letting him distract me in every way imaginable. I’m placing my eyes on Jesus. I’m taking the narrow path, and I cannot wait to see the beauty in what God has planned.
